During January 2021, COERR Mae Sot and Kanchanaburi supported Youth Volunteer Groups in Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter in Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, Ban Don Yang and Tham Hin Temporary Shelters in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi Provinces respectively, to participate in Community Big Cleaning Service, i.e. cleaning public areas around schools, houses, roadsides, and waterway.
Through the activity, these youth members were taught, empowered and acquired teamwork, unity and leadership skills, in addition to awareness of cleanliness. They managed and cooperated well in collecting garbage, putting in the bin, in order to prevent further contamination and pollution of land and water, and thus, to save community from diseases that caused sickness. As a result, their action enabled the environment cleaner and healthier for them to live in.
The activity, which was organized in Ban Mae La Temporary Shelter on January 12, 2021 had 110 volunteers of 48 female and 62 male participating; in Ban Don Yang Temporary Shelter on January 16, 2021, had 23 students of 13 girls and 10 boys participating; then another activity, which was held in Ban Tham Hin Temporary Shelter on January 29, 2021, had 127 students of 82 female and 45 male participateng.
